How it Works
Guide to Home Care:
Step 1. Enquiry Stage:
Once you contact us we will listen to your needs and inform you of our full range of services so that you can select those suited to your requirements. Additionally, our Client Services Manager is available to call to your home to discuss the care that you require without any obligation.
Step 2. Individual Care Plan Creation:
Should you decide to go ahead we will formalize a care plan tailored to your individual needs and preferences. All information provided will be treated in a confidential and sensitive manner. Our Client Services Manager will discuss with you any entitlements that may be available to you including tax relief at up to 41% and/or HSE Home Care Package/Cash Grant award.
Step 3. Introduction to your Carer:
We will select the most suitable carer and our Client Services Manager will introduce the carer to you and your family. They will ensure that everyone concerned is briefed on all aspects of the care plan. All our carers have undergone a rigorous recruitment process and background checks and will commence work as soon as you need them.
Step 4. Quality Monitoring:
All our carers record the time they arrive, depart and the services they provide using our electronic patient record technology. This system provides a degree of quality assurance to ViviHomeCare and more importantly to you the client through transparent recording of key information. Most importantly it does not cost any extra and is included in our tariffs.
Our Client Services Manager will continuously review the quality of our service while striving to meet client satisfaction at all times.
Step 5. Care Plan Reviews:
Our Client Services Manager, or a Nurse Assessor, will review each individuals care plan on a regular basis and ensure our client’s changing needs are met. Our client’s or their appointed advocate/consented family member can discuss the client’s care plan at any time with the Client Services Manager.
Funding Home Care: There are 2 ways to fund the cost of home care:
1. Family Contributions with Tax Relief:
If a client or their relatives are funding the cost of home care they may be eligible for income tax relief at their top rate of tax. If eligible, you can receive tax relief up to 41% of the cost of our service, subject to a maximum of €50,000 per annum. It is also possible to claim this relief as part of your tax credits, enabling the receipt of the benefit within your regular wage/salary payment. This relief was not affected by changes in the 2009 budget and offers the highest tax deduction in comparison to all other services that qualify under Medical Expenses relief.
For more information on Tax Relief please see the PDF file below, or contact a member of our administrative team who can assist you with your entitlement information.
2. HSE Funding:
The HSE have the sole responsibility in Ireland for the granting of home care packages. Home Care Packages are services provided by nurses, home care attendants, home helps and various therapists, ranging from physiotherapists to occupational therapists, and funded by the HSE in order to enable an older person to remain at home.
Each HSE area (local health office) has the authority to determine how the home care support packages are delivered within their area. A means or income test will need to be conducted to establish if you qualify for such a package.
Home care packages may be carried out through private home care companies such as ViviHomeCare.
An assessment will normally be carried out by your local Public Health Nurse (P.H.N.) and there are no standard national guidelines for such needs assessments.
Once your needs assessment has been conducted, an application for funding for a home care support package will be sent to the relevant division of the HSE for approval.
Once approved, ViviHomeCare will directly invoice the granting HSE administrative office for the cost of services provided to you, up to the maximum limit sanctioned in accordance with your needs assessment. Any outstanding balance will be billed directly to you.
